" 29)    The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
   30)   AND I SOUGHT FOR A MAN among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land,
that I should not destroy it:
but I found none."

GREETING FROM THE ENTITY ADMINISTRATOR

OFFICE OF CITIZENS CONCERNS HEADQUARTER (OOCCH)

 Bishop A Louis Vaughn, Sr

Referred to as “ Mr. B “

I am blessed by the opportunity and expectation to oversee the Ministry and Service work of the of the

Office Of Citizens Concerns Headquarter (OOCCH).

Some of operations within OOCCH are:

 (1) Office Of Citizens Concerns Headquarter Public Speakers Forum— OOCCH make available keynote motivating speakers.

 (2)  OOCCH Uniqueness Service and Rapid Response called “We Be There Services”. Office Of Citizens Concerns Headquarter support staff and (Executives) leaders that support their Not for profit.

          “We Be There Services”

OOCCH mission is to support staff and executives and organizations that build and support community empowerment through innovative and creative sustainable economic development strategies.

We understand the challenges and opportunities our clients face in adjusting to life in the USA  and we work closely with them to address the critical issues.

OOCCH is a mission driven organization working to improve the economic well-being of community and strengthen the opportunity to be full complete citizens and organizations.

Leadership may feel as though it is difficult to keep up deadlines or to add more to organization’s plate. OOCCH knows. However, OOCCH feels that it is very important for staff and executives personally and career growth as well as your firm’s long-term value. Here’s why:

·        Avoiding proposal burnout – Let’s face it, patrons are a hard and often thankless effort—but organization leadership must give their time whether patrons show appreciation or not.

·        Mixing things up – If we do the same thing over and over again, we get into a routine that maybe hinders our creative juices. We need to mix up our work products and tasks to avoid routine.

·        Pushing out of our comfort zones – When we are tasked with initiatives outside of strengths, they could be projects in which we have never worked on. This pushes leadership to grow personally and professionally.

 ·        Working with other teams – Working on initiatives that involve other departments exposes us to people we maybe haven’t worked with before. This gives you more exposure internally and maybe allows for more relationship building.

·        Developing relationships with leadership – This is a probably one of the more important benefits. Many of these initiatives are probably led by principals or other executives at your firm. Maybe you only get to work with on specific plans or events, if at all. Working alongside them outside the plan environment is a great way to demonstrate other skills and value you bring to the firm.

 (3) OOCCH RURAL     WHAT IS RURAL COMMUNITY?

A strong vibrant rural community is one that has and supports social networks, creates economic advantage, shares common values, allows for and encourages cultural and social expression, is able to encourage and accept diversity of interests and opinion, cares for its people and strives for personal, inter-personal and civic participation, but in the smaller and rural communities.

‘Community’ in the context of community development can be interpreted as a group of people with some common identity and connection which may be based on any number of factors. Examples include:

•     The capacity for collective action to achieve the development of new projects, activities and other opportunities

•     Access to information and knowledge

•     Opportunities for collaboration to achieve common goals

•     Shared community pride and the development of neighborhood capacities for problem- solving.

“… a sustained effort to increase involvement and partnership among members of a community to achieve common objectives. It involves local people, community organizations, government, business and philanthropic organizations working together to achieve agreed social, economic and environmental outcomes.”

•     Geographic location – State, region, town, suburb, street

•     Cultural identity – ethnicity, age, religion

•     Social connections – workplace, sports and hobbies, clubs and groups, political affiliation

•     Special interests – industry, housing, disability, gender.

In this context almost everybody will belong to more than one community. It can be seen that OOCCH Rural is more than one community standing alone. Rather it comprises many independent and inter-dependent communities. This is a complexity for community development which should be recognized when discussing, planning and implementing community strengthening initiatives.

And remember that OOCCH is just one email away—we are here oocchrural@oocch.org !!
